How do you feel about museums that show you the academic underside of art? Or force you to consider issues of class/race/gender? I’m ambivalent because my head gets filled with art instead of images. Nevertheless, this intellectual overlay seems to be necessary to prove that the museum has museum cred and isn’t just a place for rich people to park paintings. This paragraph is an overture to saying that the Brooklyn Museum is one of those museums and this high heel exhibits is one of those exhibits. But it still manages to be fun, because of the inherent silliness of high heels so see it.
