My mother was a woman of strong opinions. One of them was that Mother’s Day was a commercial creation rather than a meaningful way to honor mothers. Nevertheless, we celebrated Mother’s Day with card, cake and flowers because scoffing didn’t mean ignoring and because she was the matriarch.
Mother’s Day has a different look and feel when you don’t have a mother anymore.  The day means more because of the absence.
This year to celebrate M-Day,  I made a list of  novelties big and small  [post my Mom’s life]  that my Mom would have enjoyed:
  • Shopping in dollar stores
  • Watching Downton Abbey
  • Obama’s election
  • Obama’s reelection
  • Same sex marriage

Happy M-day, Mom!
Love, Becky
