This weekend, I saw Hope Springs. Because I was early, I snuck into an adjoining theater and saw about 15 minutes of Campaign, which is a good example of a not very good movie. Dan Ackroyd and John Lithgow were the corporate villains in the not very good scene I watched. As I watched, I wondered not for the first time why did these two actors who have talent and have acting credentials agree to act in this movie and why do talented actors do that in general.

The explanations I come up for this decision are

  • $$
  • blackmail
  • bad judgment
  • need to keep themselves visible
  • insane love of acting
  • switched script
  • didn’t read the script

Can somebody help me out here?
